There are many rules of converting direct speech into indirect speech. If the reported speech is in: 1.simple present changes to simple past 2. Present continuous changes to past continuous 3.present perfect changes to past perfect 4. Present perfect continuous changes to past perfect continuous 5.simple past changes to past perfect 6. Past continuous changes to past perfect continuous 7. Past perfect - No change in tense 8. Past perfect continuous - No change in tense 9.simple future ( will ) changes to simple future ( would) 10. Future continuous ( will be + V4) changes to ( would be + V4) 11. Future perfect ( will + have ) changes to ( would + have) 12.
