The author's wife wanted Baba or Bruno back because she loved it and when she was separated from him she realised that she can't live without him . She was not able to control her emotions.

The author's wife want baba back because she had a great bond with baba and once she saw baba after a long time she could not wait and spent her whole time in front of the cage.when it was the time for the zoo to be close she ask the zoo incharge to gave him back.this shows that they both have a great bond.
