What is the difference between convex and concave lenses
  • 4 answers
Convex lens-1) Convex lens can form both real and virtual images. 2) It's can formed magnified images 3) It's thicker at the centre than at the edges. It converge a parallel beam of light on refraction through it. It has a real focus. Concave lens-1) Concave lens always forms a virtual image. 2) Image is always diminished in size. 3) If the reflecting surface of a spherical mirror is concave , it is called a concave mirror. If the reflecting surface of the convex, then it is a convex mirror.

convex lens- It is thicker in the middle than the edges . It converges the light falling on it.So it is called converging lens. It can form real and inverted image, it also forms virtual and erect image. Concave lens -It is thinner in the middle than the edges. It diverges the light falling on it. So it is called diverging lens. It always forms erect, virtual and smaller image

Convex lens Concave lens
1.  It is thick in the middle and thin at the edges. 1.  It is thin in the middle and thick at the edges.
2.  It converges the incident rays towards the principal axis. 2.  It diverges the incident rays away from the principal axis.
3. It has a real 3. It has a virtual focus.
