    Gandhi ji went to champaran to help the poor peasants of champaran.these peasants are the sharecroppers.Acc. to an old agreement peasants had to cultivate indigo on 15% of the land and give it as rent.. Then Britishers didn't need the indigo crop any more as Germany had developed synthetic indigo. Just to release from the agreement they demanded compensation. Gandhi ji were called by Rajkumar shukla to solve their problem and to get justice...Gandhi ji gave them a lesson of self reliance.....
