Evaporation takes place when a liquid turns into a gas. Evaporation is also known as vaporization. Vaporization usually happens on the surface of the water. It is a slow process and occurs at all temperatures.
Raising the temperature of water increases the kinetic energy of surface molecules, hastening the rate of evaporation. Moving air channels saturated air away from the liquid, effectively lowering concentrations of water and other substances in the local air.
