A bulb will obviously glow when it is connected to a circuit and the circuit is closed . Generally , an electric bulb has a thin filamemt made of tungsten which glows and emits light .

In other words, the filament of the bulb offers resistance to the passage of current . The electric work is done, and hence, the electrical energy changes into heat and light energy .
