Derry's mother did not have a favourable opinion of Mr. Lamb. She had heard things about him that led her to have a negative impression of Mr. Lamb and thus did not want Derry to visit him.

Bcz she was thinking that if mr.lamb will also make his son feel inferior like everyone else then derry will feel more bad towards the world and even forget about the good things
