1) oilport- ports where processing and shipping of oil takes place. 2) ports of call- where ships anchor to refuel, and take water and food items. 3) ferry ports - where mails and passengers are transported over short distance. 4) entrepot ports -collection centres of goods, brought from different countries. 5) naval ports- strategic importance, least dealing with cargo.
