It is refer to the competition , the tension and a series of conforntation between US and USSR (soviet union) , backed by their respective alliances. This is also known as Ideological conflict.

Cold war refers to that type of war which remains cold. Cold war era after the end of second world war when US dropped 2nuclear bombs on japenese city . It was the ideological war between two superpowers US and USSR.

It refers to that kind of war which is not direct..cold war began after world war 2 .the main enemies were US and soviet union..both sides were afraid of fighting each other DIRECTLY ..
