As the plane accelerates down the runway, what’s actually being established is airflow over the wings. The wings have an “aerofoil” shape, and the upper surface causes the air that passes over the top to go a greater distance than the air that passes below. This creates a lower pressure above the wing, and a greater pressure below the wing. Thus the wing is lifted upwards. This principle is called Bernoulli’s principle.
