What is coalition politics ?

In countries with multiple reasonably powerful political parties (namely countries with proportional representation), it is rare one party has a majority on their own. To get that majority, they must build coalitions of multiple parties. For instance, if party A has 40% of the parliament, party B has 30%, party C has 30%, parties B and C could form a coalition to pass a bill/agenda. Coalition politics just refers to the give and take nature of these politics; if party C scratches party B’s back, B better scratch A’s.
