CHLOROPLAST

  • These are the type of plastids that contain green pigment called chlorophyll.
  • These are found in large number in mesophyll cells of leaves.
  • These cell organelles are responsible for photosynthesis.

LEUCOPLAST

  • These are the colourless plastids.
  • Their funtion is storage of proteins, fats, starch , etc.
  • They are largely found in cells of storage organs such as tuber, fruits,  seeds, etc of different plants.

Chloroplasts are the plastids that gives green colour to the some leaves of a plant, while leucoplasts are the plastids that give different colours to flowers and fruits of plant
