The rusting of an iron object is more in coastal areas than in deserts because the saline water or sea water contains salt that facilitates the process of rusting, whereas in the desert area there are lack of water, even water vapour is not present in the atmosphere. In comparison to the desert rusting is faster in coastal areas because they are nearer the oceans so, salt and water content is higher while in desert areas, the conditions are much drier.
