    Robert Hooke discovered cells in 1665 while examining a thin slice of cork through a self-designed microscope. He saw that it resembled the structure if honey-comb consisting of many little compartments. These little compartments /small boxes were called as cells.

    Cells were discoveered by Robert Hooke in 1665. He observed cells in cork slice with the help of primitive microscope. Now, the cork slice resembled the structure of honeycombs in that there are compartments or boxes. Hooke called this boxes as Cells.
