A Lichen is a mutually beneficial relationship of fungi and algae. In which fungi is responsible for absorbing of water from the corresponding area and algae is responsible for preparing of food because algae is having chlorophyll while fungi is not having. Such relationships are called symbiotic.

A lichen is a composite organism that arises from algae or cyanobacteria living among filaments of multiple fungi in a symbiotic relationship. The combined lichen has properties different from those of its component organisms. They are used are air pollutants for SO2.
