It is the production unit of the body ER are large , irregular, double membranous, network of tubules or sheets Similar to plasma membrane It has two types : RER and SER Ribosomes are present in RER and it synthesis proteins. Ribosomes are absent in SER and it synthesis lipids and fats. Functions: They make framework They make proteins and lipids which help in the manufacturing of cell membrane . In vertebrates they help in detoxification of poison and drugs. Also helps in the formation of nuclear membrane and cell plate.
