by keeping the no. of atoms on both the sides equal.
for example: aFe+bH2O gives cFe3O4 + dH2 (put variables in front of each compound)
now put any value for a ,like a=1, then solve to get other values of b , c and d.put the values of a,b,c abd d in front of the compunds.
in this case answer is 3Fe + 4 H2O gives Fe3O4 + 4H2
