The latitudinal extent of India is 8 degree 4'28" N to 37 degree 17'53"N. The importance of this vast latitudinal extent is :
It helps in receiving monsoon from the southern part of india which lies in the warm tropical zone.
In the northern part are the Himalayas which are the source of rivers to solve the problem of water scarcity in northern part of india.
It influences the duration of day and night. As we move towards the north nights become longer and days are shorter.
