Two quantities x and y are said to vary in inverse proportion if
xy = k -----------(1)
where k is a constant.
According to our problem
y = 45 , k = 9 .
put these values in (1), xy = k

x × 45 = 9

x = 9/45

x = 1/5

if y = 45 then x = 1/5
