Let the number be 100
Increase in it = 10%
Increase number {tex} = 100 + \frac{{10}}{{100}} \times 100 = 110{/tex}
Now decrease = 10% of {tex}110 = \frac{{10}}{{100}} \times 110 = 11{/tex}

New number is 100 - 11 = 89
