Active immunity is nothing but the immunity when a host is exposed to antigens then the body it self releases the antibodies in order to oppose the antigen but in passive immunity some readymade antibodies are given to the host in order to oppose the antigens, such as a host which is bitten from snake is given some readymade antibodies which can oppose the antigen of snake venom this is type of passive immunity but in case of rhinovirus causing the cold or cough the host body itself produces antibodies in order to oppose the particular antigen this is an example of an active immunity
