Inkam Kungma 7 years ago

Following are the four consequences of the disintegration of the Soviet Union : 1)the collapse of the Second World of the Soviet Union and the socialist system in Estern Europe had profound consequences for world politics. 2)first of all, it meant the end of cold war confrontations.the ideological dispute over whether the socialist system was not an issue any more. Since this dispute had engaged the military of the two blocks, triggered a massive arms race and accumulation of nuclear weapons the end of the confrontation demanded an end to this arms race as no sphere of influence was needed hereafter. 3)power relations in world politics changed with this event and the relative influence of ideas and institutions also receded.the end of the cold war left open only two possibilities :either the remaining superpower would dominate or create a multipolar system with groups of countries could not form a multipolar world, the US became the sole superpower. 4)institution like the World Bank and international monetary fund became powerful advisors because the Second World countries had borrowed money in bulk in course of their transition to capitalism. thus, the notion of liberal democracy emerged as the best way to organise political life.
