1.Let the marked price =x Discount= 40% Shirt sold for rs.240 Note=discount-mp-sp D=d% of mp 2.d=40% Solution= discount=d%of mp 40/100× x D- 2/5x 3.d=mp-sp 2/5x= x-240 2x=5(x-240) 2x=5x-1200 2x-5x= -1200 -3x=-1200 X=1200÷3=400 Therefore,mp of shirt =400

Mp = 100/100 - 40 × 240 100/ 60 ×240= 400 rs Mp = 400 rs
