This is from the chapter " The Tiger King " . The story is a satire on conceit of those in power . In the story , the tiger king indiscriminately killed many tigers in order to escape death and prove an astrologer wrong . He misused his power and continued killing the hapless animal . However , he met his death from the hundredth tiger only, although it was a wooden tiger .
