The reading on the spring balance B will be equal to the force exerted by the 1 kg mass suspended from it.

This will be equal to m x g = 1kg x 9.8 m/s^2 = 9.8 N = 1 kg -wt

The spring balance A will also show the same reading i.e., 1 kg-wt

This is because , when balance B is pulled by 1 kg-wt it exerts a force on balance A , but balance A , according to Newton's third law, exerts an equal and opposite force on balance B

Note : the mass of the spring balances are assumed negligible.
