The author has chosen an apt title for the chapter. The Last Lesson refers to the lesson taught by M. Hamel who was to leave the next day for an order had come from Berlin that German will replace French in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine. The story describes the episodes during M. Hamel's last lesson on French. Therefore, we may conclude that the title is appropriate for the story.

The title itself expressing the the story written by alphaunse daudet. In this story a teacher who has served his 40 years in teaching french language has to leave the country bcoz of a order from germans that 'there will be no more teaching of french in the country' and then this teacher (M. Hamel) was teaching his last lesson of french in his last class nad that's why this lesson was named 'THE LAST LESSON'
