There are many differences between infrared and ultraviolet radiation like
(i) Their frequencies :the frequency of infrared radiations are less than the frequency of visible light and ranges from 1012 to 1014 while the frequency of ultraviolet radiation has frequency greater than the visible light and ranges from 1016 to 1018.
(ii) Heating effect : Infrared radiation have higher heating effect than the ultraviolet radiation and hence used in heat sensitive thermal imaging.
(iii)  Their uses: Both of the radiation have their own uses like:
Ultraviolet Radiation are used in : Photography, electrical and electronics industry, florescent dyes, forensics
Infrared radiations are used in : night vision, thermography,  hyper spectral imaging,  communication.
