There are many differences between infrared and ultraviolet radiation like
(i) Their frequencies :the frequency of infrared radiations are less than the frequency of visible light and ranges from 10¹² to 10¹⁴ while the frequency of ultraviolet radiation has frequency greater than the visible light and ranges from 10¹⁶ to 10¹⁸.
(ii) Heating effect : Infrared radiation have higher heating effect than the ultraviolet radiation and hence used in heat sensitive thermal imaging.
(iii) Their uses: Both of the radiation have their own uses like:
Ultraviolet Radiation are used in : Photography, electrical and electronics industry, florescent dyes, forensics
Infrared radiations are used in : night vision, thermography, hyper spectral imaging, communication.
