The central idea of the poem Not The Marble nor the gilded monuments is that the monuments statues and buildings made in the remembrance of great personalities could not be at the ravages of time for another natural calamities and are destroyed but the poetry which the writer has created for his friend will last forever and not even the God of War, Mars, can destroy it.
