There are lot of difference between diamond and graphita 1: diamond is sp3 hybridised and graphite is sp2 hybridised 2: diamond does not conduct electricity and graphite do 3:diamond is hard whearas graphit is soft 4:in diamond vander wall force is absent and in graphite it is present

Diamond and graphite are both the compounds of carbon......they differ in their structure.... In diamond all the e- of carbon are engaged in their bonds but in graphite one of pair of e- is left unpaired ....... That is why graphite appears black where as diamond is crystal clear ..... The reason is for the rigidity of diamond and the brittleness of graphite
