Mr Lamp is a character of the story "On the face of it." He is an old man , who don't have much company with people , in this story he happened to met a boy of 13 year or so and conversed about their disabilities. , this man has got a tin leg which has blown off years ago and the boys' face was ugly as it's one side was ate up by an acid... then he talked about his difficulties in the society and before the mans' death he was able to change the attitude of the boy..that is Derry.
