The poet Vikram Seth conveys a message that we should not come under the influence of others .because the world is clever and selfish. we should always be clever in this clever world. don't be innocent like Nightingale because if you are innocent , the world will cheat you , and make selfish you. also poet says that we should be aware of clever people like frog and do not follow anyone blindly.
So ,this is all what the poet wants to say in the poem Frog and The Nightingale.
