Sky appears blue because the size of the atmospheric particles is nearly same as the wavelength of the blue light .Due to this blue light is scattered more......

Aayushi Bhandari 6 years, 5 months ago

It is so because particles in the atmosphere reflect the light of blue wavelength more than any other

Ron Vineetahuja 6 years, 5 months ago

Because wavelength of blue color is very small and according to Raleigh's criteria Scattering is inversly proportional to fourth power of wavelength. So wavelength is small its scaterrs more so due to this reason sky look blue

??

Parul Singh 6 years, 5 months ago

Blue light scatters the most in all colours because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. Blue light is scattered in all direction by tiny molecules of air in earth's atmosphere.

In water because refractive index is inversly proportional to velocity of light in medium

Raman Brar 6 years, 5 months ago

Refrective index of water(1.3) is less then glass(1.5) so speed of light is more in water.
