The word hysteresis means lagging behind. The phenomenon of lagging of intensity of magnetisation (M) behind magnetic intensity (H), when a specimen of magnetic material is subjected to a cycle of magnetization is called hysteresis.

- The charge is always represented in the form of, q = ne. Here n is an integer and e is the charge (- for electron and + for proton). Magnitude of e = 1.602192 X 10-19 This is called quantization of charge.
- SI unit of charge is Coulomb (C).
- Quantization is usually ignored at macroscopic levels (μC) because at that point, charges are taken to be continuous.

Because along with the beta particle an anti neutrino is also emitted in beta decay and also they share the total energy in all possible proprtions So the energy distribution of beta rays continuous.

Cyclotron is a device to accelerate charged particles to very high speed. It employs an electric and magnetic field for the same purpose.
The working of a cyclotron is based on the fact that the frequency of revolution of charged particle is not dependent on the energy.
- Particle moves inside the two semi-circular disc-like metal containers D 1 and D 2 called Dees.
- When the particle moves from one Dee to another, it is acted upon by electric field.
- Electric field changes sign alternately. Therefore, the particle is accelerated by the electric field, which increases the energy of the particle.
- The increase in energy increases the radius of the circular path.
Hence, the path is a spiral one.
- Time period of revolution is his frequency is called the cyclotron frequency.
The working principle of a cyclotron involves the use of an electric field to accelerate charge particles across the gap between two D shaped magnetic field regions. The magnetic field is perpendicular to the paths of the charged particles makes them follow circular paths within two Dees. An alternating voltage accelerates the charged particles each time they cross the Dees. The radius of each particle's path increases with its speed, so the accelerated particles spiral toward the outer wall of the cyclotron.

There is a series resistor connected to the circuit in order to limit the current into the diode. It is connected to the positive terminal of the d.c. It works in such a way the reverse-biased can also work in breakdown condition. We do not use ordinary junction diode because the low power rating diode can get damaged when we apply reverse bias above its breakdown voltage. When the minimum input voltage and the maximum load current is applied, the Zener diode current should always be minimum.
Since the input voltage and the required output voltage is known, it is easier to choose a Zener diode with a voltage approximately equal to the load voltage, i.e. VZ = VL.
