Integers were defined as the set of whole numbers to be extended to include the negative numbers (negative integers or counting in reverse direction). If you don't consider 0 as an integer then you are going against the convention. This is sme like trying to find why we consider 0 , 1 ,2 etc as numbers . They are numbers because we defined them to be numbers as per Our convenience . Also 0 follows all the properties of integers and differ by an integer distance from an number on number line and makes number line as well as removing it will make the integer number line discontinuous.

To find domain remove that part of the number line due to which 1 the denominator of expression or its factor become 0, 2 any term becomes non real3 any value becomes out of specified range of function. 4 a part of function is undefined like x th root of 4 that is x√4 is defined only for x belongs to natural number set becomes non natural number then out of domain. To find range 1 remove those values that are out of graph of function.2 finding the domain of inverse of given function and accepting the valid regions as range of original function (these two are possible by different methods for different functions there is no actual standard method but these 2 guidelines will be helpful)

If you plot its graph its continuous , equation of straight line . There is no value for which its denominator becomes zero or a non real value occurs hence it is continuous if we are allowed to show by such observation.
