In the 11th century, this family was the wealthiest but today, every part of the tribe live in great poverty. The Garoghlanian tribe was very well known for their utmost honesty and integrity even when they were at their wealthiest best.
They never cheated anyone or would even think of cheating anyone. For them, their family came first, next was honesty and thirdly, they had a sense of right and wrong. They never took any undue advantage of anyone.

Chipko Movement, started in 1970's, was a non violent movement aimed at protection and conservation of trees and forests from being destroyed. The name of the Chipko moment originated from the word 'embrace' as the villagers used to hug the trees and protect them from wood cutters from cutting them. Sunderlal Bahuguna, a noted environmentalist who initiated the Chipko Movement, was born on January 9, 1927. The man who has been fighting for the preservation of forests in the Himalayas celebrates his 90th birthday today. Bahuguna is also known for coining the Chipko slogan 'ecology is permanent economy'.

The restraint and composure with which the children handled themselves in the moment of crisis boosted the morale of the narrator and spurred him onto action. He realized that if his children could exercise such remarkable self-control with the possibility of death looming over their heads, then he as a grown man could also show courage and determination under duress and take them to safety. It dawned on him that he somehow had to make it for them. He saw how his boys were cheerful and optimistic and most importantly, how his little girl did not fret over her injuries and how his little boy was not afraid of death. Such resilience pushed him to take the reigns of their safety into his own hands and achieve what had seemed to be impossible.

It takes all sorts of people to make this world. Some like a peaceful and quiet life. Others love adventures. They don’t hesitate even to undertake dangerous expeditions. Such things are risky. But still people go on without caring for even death and disasters. They seem to be crazy. Perhaps they are. There is something in them which doesn’t allow them to sit and relax. For them life is a continuous journey. They prefer untrodden paths. The history of mankind shows that all our progress owes to such brave and fearless people. What about the discovery of America? Had Columbus not undertaken his historic voyage, perhaps America would have never been found. It would ever have been hidden from the eyes of the civilized world.
Perhaps it is in the blood of man to crave for adventures. Man wants to go beyond the known. He wants to explore the unknown. All the explorers, navigators and mountaineers have an undying urge to transcend their limitations. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing climbed the highest peak in the world—The Mount Everest. Francis Drake, Walter Releigh, Vasco-da-Gama, Marco Polo, Captain Cook showed to humanity that nothing is impossible. Man’s will and determination conquers all odds and hazards.
