This expression is from John Keats' famous poem 'A Thing of Beauty'. This metaphorical expression means the flowery band of beautiful things always keeps us tied to earth. The poet here means human beings continue to look forward to living life just because of the presence of beautiful things. They even bear sorrows, undertake struggles, strife, pain, and loneliness just because there is hope of beautiful things in our life.

We wreathe flower hands that help us attached to the earth. These are our evil ways of malice, disappointments and lack of noble qualities. They breed so many troubles sufferings.

According to John Keats, a thing of beauty is joy forever. There is shape of beauty which really moves away the pall from our dark spirits, and makes us fit to love and honour beauty on earth. Just as the moon, the trees germinate a soothing world for simple sheep, so does a thing of beauty for human beings.

The poem conveys the message that a thing of beauty is a joy forever. It transcends time. It will never fade away. Beauty has the power to remove darkness and negativity and helps us survive when there is a 'dearth of noble nature' or when one is surrounded by evil. It has a positive impact on one's health. It helps one get sound sleep. Moreover, it highlights the fact that beauty is not only physical but also spiritual and seems to flow down from heaven as an 'immortal drink' made for man.

How is the beautiful thing able to provide us with sweet dreams? What else does the beautiful thing provide us with?
If we have the sweet memories of a beautiful thing, it will provide us with sweet dreams in sleep. It also gives us health and quiet breathing.

Aunt Jennifer's Tigers” is a statement of conflict in women, specifically between the impulse to freedom and imagination. Aunt Jennifer wants a life that she embroiders on the panel. She wants a colour full vibrant life which every woman should have the power to create. The message given by this poem is that a woman should raise her voice against any violence instead of tolerating it. If woman will not raise her voice against the violence done on her than these violences increase day by day on her. Every person have right to live freedom so woman should be independent

  • Wedding band: symbol of oppression in an unhappy marriage/ Ringed means encircled or trapped, losing individuality and freedom
  • Aunt Jennifer: a typical victim of male oppression in an unhappy marriage, who suffers loss of individuality, dignity and personal freedom silently. She becomes dependent, fearful and frail
  •  Tigers:  symbolize untamed free spirit. Here they are antithesis of their creator‟s personality. They pace and prance freely, proudly, fearless, confident and majestic in their bearing. The use of colours implies that Aunt Jennifer's tigers and their land are more vital and enjoy a sense of freedom far greater than her. Yellow (bright topaz) connotes the sun and fierce energy, while green reminds one of spring and vitality
  • Embroidery: symbol of creative expression. The artwork expresses the Aunt‟s suppressed desires and becomes her escape from the oppressive reality of her life

Aunt Jennifer was a timid woman who could not stand against her tyrant husband. She remained a domestic lady who bore suffering meekly. She created tigers on her panel which represent her silent revolt against the uncle’s authoriative nature. She wished to free and strong like the tigers.
