Answer~~ Wilkinson's catalyst has the formula RhCl(PPh3)3. The IUPAC name (the scientific name that also describes its structure) is chlorotris(triphenylphosphone)rhodium(I). This name tells us that the rhodium is in an oxidation state of +1. The cool thing about Wilkinson's catalyst is its ability to selectively reduce alkenes, or double bonds. The selectiveness makes is useful when we need to reduce a specific double bond in a molecule. Regards. ??

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 6 months ago

Wilkinson’s Catalyst [IUPAC Name: chloridotris(triphenylphosphine)rhodium(I)] is a coordination compound whose coordination centre is rhodium. It is extensively used as a catalyst in the hydrogenation of alkenes. The chemical formula of Wilkinson’s catalyst can be written as [RhCl(PPh3)3] where ‘Ph’ denotes a phenyl group. At ambient temperatures, this coordination complex exists as a reddish-brown solid.

Slavery in Southern Africa existed until the abolition of slavery in the Cape Colony on 1 January 1834. This followed the British banning the trade of slaves between colonies in 1807 with their emancipation by 1834.

Answer~~ An electrochemical cell involves transformation of energy between chemical and electrical forms by means of a redox reaction. It is of two types: 1)galvanic cell /voltaic cell(converts chemical energy into electrical energy) 2)electrolytic cell(converts electrical energy into chemical energy) I must thank you because answering this question helped me. Hope it helps you too. Regards. ??

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 6 months ago

A galvanic cell is an electrochemical cell in which spontaneous redox processes occur allowing the continuous flow of electrons through the conductor, whereas, in an electrolytic cell, the redox reactions are influenced by an external source of current. In a galvanic cell, the chemical energy is converted to electric energy, but in an electrolytic cell, the electric energy is converted to chemical energy.

The compound zinc oxide (ZnO) is called philosopher's wool. Alchemists, as part of their rituals, would burn zinc in air and collect the residue, which formed into white woolly tufts. They called it lana philosophica in Latin, meaning philosopher's wool.

While the term “phosphorescence” is derived from the ability of white phosphorus to glow faintly upon exposure to oxygen, the current chemical understanding is that this phenomenon is actually chemiluminescence, a mechanism of light emission distinct from phosphorescence.

Mohammad Adil 5 years, 6 months ago

{chemiluminescence means glow in dark} white phosphorus emits faint a glow when exposed to oxygen because of a chemical reaction taking place on its surface only if the darkened room ots in has oxygen in it. Red phosphorus does not respond to absorbing radiation and thats why it doesn't glow in dark.

The oxoacids of Phosphorous which contain P−H bond have strong reducing properties. Thus, hypophosphorous acid is a good reducing agent as it contains two P−H bonds and reduces, for example, AgNO3 to metallic silver. These P−H bonds do not ionize to give H+ and do not play any role in basicity.

Mishti ???? 5 years, 6 months ago

Answer~~ In phosphorous the bond between P and H is very much strong. It is non ionic in nature. The elecrtonegative of P atom is 2.19 and that of H atom is 2.2 so the bond form is very much strong. Hence the H attact to P are non ionisable. Regards. ??

the unit of first-order rate constants are 1/sec.
  • 1 answers

Khushi....? ??‍? 5 years, 6 months ago

Zero-Order Reactions. In some reactions, the rate is apparently independent of the reactant concentration. The rates of these zero-order reactions do not vary with increasing nor decreasing reactants concentrations. This means that the rate of the reaction is equal to the rate constant, k, of that reaction.

the relationship between the relative quantities of substances taking part in a reaction or forming a compound, typically a ratio of whole integers is called stoichiometry.... And....The stoichiometric coefficient is the number written in front of atoms, ion and molecules in a chemical reaction to balance the number of each element on both the reactant and product sides of the equation. Though the stoichiometric coefficients can be fractions, whole numbers are frequently used and often preferred.

The phenomena of attracting and retaining the molecules of a substance on the surface is called adsorbtion

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 6 months ago

Adsorption is a process which involves the accumulation of a substance in molecular species in higher concentration on the surface. If we look at Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Oxygen, these gases adsorb on activated charcoal. Meanwhile, we have to note that adsorption is different from absorption. The two processes involve totally different mechanisms.

For the adsorption process, two components are required,

  • Adsorbate: Substance which is deposited on the surface of another substance. For example, H2, N2 and O2 gases.
  • Adsorbent: Surface of a substance on which adsorbate adsorbs. For example, Charcoal, Silica gel, Alumina.

Khushi....? ??‍? 5 years, 6 months ago

Adsorption is the adhesion of atoms, ions or molecules from a gas, liquid or dissolved solid to a surface. This process creates a film of the adsorbate on the surface of the adsorbent. This process differs from absorption, in which a fluid is dissolved by or permeates a liquid or solid, respectively.

A bimolecular reaction can be kinetically first order in behaviour provided one of the reactants is taken in such a large excess that its concentration may hardly change. Such a reactant will not contribute to the order. Thus, a bimolecular reaction will be of first order.

Vikas Shukla 5 years, 6 months ago

Generally molecularity and order of a reaction are same in elementary reaction. But in some cases order is found to be different. Such reactions are called Pseudo first order reactions. "This happens when one of the reactant is present in much excess quantity." ex - acidic hydrolysis of sucrose and Ester. (Molecularity is two but order is one.)

Hmm in simple words! Suppose u have prepared some tea. U can't drink it directly as it will have tea leaves too. Now u will pass it through sieve. It won't happen itself, u have to do it i.e. u applied some pressure say. In the cup u will have tea and In the sieve there will be tea leaves and other insoluble components. This is what happens in Reverse osmosis. Here tea is solvent. Sieve serves as semipermeable membrane. Work done by u serves as pressure higher than osmotic pressure. Now for osmosis suppose I gave u two buckets which have water but not in equal amount. Suppose to balance the level of water u put some pebbles. But remember amount of water is still different. The bucket with more pebbles will have less water. Now suppose that there is 6 L water in one bucket and 4L in other total is 10L. I asked u to balance the amount. U filled 5L in each. Now both have equal water. This happens in osmosis. I know it is very long but it is simple. Ise pdhne ke baad Ek baar book se bhi pdhna. Na samjh Aaye to Phir se pdhna Aakhir me samjh aa jayega. Hope it will help.

101% sure. Glucose hi h. Let me explain. Depression in freezing point is directly proportional to solute particles( colloigative property) . Concentration is same. • CaCl2--------> Ca^2+ + 2Cl^1- ( =3 ions ) • Nacl---------> Na^+ + Cl^1- (=2 ions) • Glucose won't dissociate as it is non - electrolyte. So no. of particles will be least in glucose. Depression in freezing point will be least too. So it will have highest freezing point.

Aldol Condensation can be defined as an organic reaction in which enolate ion reacts with a carbonyl compound to form β-hydroxy ketone or β-hydroxy aldehyde, followed by dehydration to give a conjugated enone. Aldol Condensation plays a vital role in organic synthesis, creating a path to form carbon-carbon bonds.
