Thinking that you have some kind of issue with problems in which standard si units are not used I think these advices may help you If you cant convert all the units then at the end write the answer in that unit only with the si unit Like if your have to calculate volume but you dont know how to convert it into a specific unit lets say m^3 let it be in cm cube only . As only half or 1 mark will may be deducted for this

(i) Pig iron is converted into steel by heating in a convertor . A blast of oxygen diluted with carbon dioxide is blown through the converter . Oxygen reacts with impurities and raised the temperatures to 2173k2173k . Carbon gets oxidized to CO which burns off at the mouth of the converter . Oxides of silicon and MgMg form slag, when the flame is stopped, slag is tapped off and other metals like Mn,Cr,Ni,WMn,Cr,Ni,W may be added in the end . The reduction of zinc oxide is done using coke as a reducing agent. For the purpose of heating , the oxide is made into briskets with coke and clay ZnO+C→Zn+COZnO+C→Zn+CO

Because of its larger size, compared with oxygen, the sulphur atom tends not to form double bonds with other sulphur atoms.* (As is the case with the other elements in the same period ... e.g. nitrogen is N2, but white phosphorus is P4). S8 is a cyclic, non-planar (to avoid bond strain) molecule. *(because the atoms are not close enough for the sideways-overlap of p-orbitals to produce the pi-bond)

Properties of rubber are improved by compounding it with some chemicals like sulphur, hydrogen sulphide, etc. Vulcanization is a chemical process for converting natural rubber or related polymers into more durable materials via the addition of sulphur or other equivalent curatives or accelerators. These additives modify the polymer by forming cross-links (bridges) between individual polymer chains. Extent of stiffness of vulcanized rubber depends on the amount of sulphur added. E.g. Tyre rubber has 3 to 5% sulphur.

1) In the production of carbonated beverages-in order to increase the solubility of CO2 in cold drinks, beer etc,the bottle are sealed under high pressure. When the bottle is opened under normal atmospheric pressure, the pressure inside the bottle falls to atmospheric pressure & the excess CO2 bubbles out of the bottle causing effervescence. 2) At high altitudes-the partial pressure of oxygen at high altitudes is less than the ground level.this results in low concentration of oxygen in the blood & tissues of the peoples 3) In scuba diving- during scuba diving, when the diver breaths in compressed air from the supply tank, more nitrogen dissolves in the blood & other body fluids because the pressure at that depth is far greater than the surface atmospheric pressure.

In a d–d transition, an electron in a d orbital on the metal is excited by a photon to another d orbital of higher energy. In complexes of thetransition metals, the d orbitals do not all have the same energy. In centrosymmetric complexes, d-d transitions are forbidden by the Laporte rule.
