Since H2SO4 is an oxidizing agent, it oxidizes HI (produced in the reaction to I2). As a result, the reaction between alcohol and HI to produce alkyl iodide cannot occur. Therefore, sulphuric acid is not used during the reaction of alcohols with KI.

Acetylation of aniline reduces the electron density on nitrogen. Resonance results in shifting of an electron pair from nitrogen to carbonyl group. Hence, activation effect reduces.

Shalini Tiwari 7 years, 10 months ago

Thanks!!!

Hitesh Kumar 7 years, 10 months ago

Because it result in decrease of electron density on nitrogen. Due to the resonance, the electron pair of nitrogen atom gets delocalised towards carbonyl group therefore so activation effect reduces.

Sahil Mangla 7 years, 10 months ago

Due to sharing of lone pair when acetylation is done
