Bcz N-N sigma bond is weaker than P-P sigma bond

Hina Siddiqui 8 years, 1 month ago

Cz N-N forms p pi- p pi multiple bond & P-P d pi -d pi single covalent bond.

Neha Garg 8 years, 1 month ago

Because N-N are weaker than P-P so it cannot form 4 single bond while P can

When ethene reacts with H+/H2O it give ethanol. Mec--- due to polarisation there is a partial positive and partial negative character on both Carbon so H+ attack on negative side and make a positive charge on other carbon. Now as H2O is present in excess so OH- attack on +ve carbon and results in formation of ethanol

Differences Volatile substances have a tendency to vaporize whereas nonvolatile substances do not have a tendency to vaporize. Volatile substances have a high vapor pressure at normal room temperature and pressure. Nonvolatile substances do not have a high vapor pressure in these conditions. When volatile liquids are heated or stored in an open container, the volume of it decreases but this doesn’t happen to nonvolatile liquids. Volatile substances are generally highly flammable compared to nonvolatile substances. Volatile substances can be easily detected by the smell compared to the nonvolatile substances.

More reactive metals i.e, alkali metals and alkaline earth metals are usually extracted by electrolysis of their fused salts because in electrolytic reduction, by aplying external potential from outside soure, reduction can be brought easily. Further, more reactive metals have more affinity with oxygen than that of carbon. That's why electrolytic reduction is preferred over the chemical reduction.

Instead of KCN ,we can use CuCN to change in cynobenzene This rxn name is Rosenmund- von Braun Synthesis

Kalindi Yadav 8 years, 1 month ago

The phenyl cation does not show resonance. Resonance is the delocalisation of π-electrons or lone pair electrons. It requires the interacting orbitals to be parallel so they can overlap. The π -electron cloud of phenyl carbocation is perpendicular to the vacant p-orbital of the carbocation. Therefore no overlap is possible and thus no resonance is possible. So when in a reaction if an intermediate is not stable then the reaction will not take place. It is very important that any reaction leads to a stabilized intermediates and then products. If stability is not present reaction will not happen.

Kalindi Yadav 8 years, 1 month ago

No, we cannot react KCN with benzene and then to hydrolyze to form acid because in benzene substitution of -CN cannot takes place as the intermediate formed phenyl.

Radhika Tyagi 8 years, 1 month ago

Prerna ka ans better h

Prerna Pahwa 8 years, 1 month ago

. -Add KCN then complete hydrolysis

Conversion of bromobenzene to benzoic acid involves following steps Step -1:—Formation of toluene from chlorobenzene. Chlorobenzene and methyl chloride are reacted with sodium metal in presence of dry ether to form toluene. Step-2:—Oxidation of toluene to benzoic acid. Toluene is oxidised by alkaline KMnO₄ to form potassium benzoate, which on acid hydrolysis gives benzoic acid.
