When ZnO is heated,it loses oxygen.in ZnO,Zn2+ ions occupy the interstitial sites and electrons are trapped in the interstitial sites for the neutralization. Due to the presence of electrons in the interstitial voids,the colour is yellow. Write the eqn. Give in the textbook on pg no.24

WhenZnO is heated it convert into Zn2+ion andO2. Because of presence of unpaired electron the Zn after heating able absorb visible range of light and to radiate visible colour...hence its shows yellow colour after heating...
