When n- butyl reacts with alcoholic KOH, then KOH gets higher energy by alcohol and then gets the ability to attack on any carbon atom by sn2 reaction thus, the halo atom and the hydrogen atom come out in the dorm of mineral acid... CH3-CH2-CH2-CH2-Cl -----------> CH3-CH2-CH=CH2 + HCl

Keerthi Sri 7 years, 4 months ago

Dehydrohalogenation occurs...A chlorine nd a hydrogen atom attached to the carbon atom next to the halogen....gets removed..

The number of electrons in Nitrogen are 7 and in oxygen are 8. Hence the number of electrons that would be present in the molecular orbitals in NO are 7 + 8 = 15. As the number of electrons are odd, all the electrons in NO molecule cannot be paired. Hence, a single electron would be present in a π*2p orbital. Therefore NO is an odd electron species and the gas is hence paramagnetic due to the presence of unpaired electron. In the liquid and the solid state, the gas dimerises. The unpaired electron becomes paired and NO is therefore diamagnetic.

If you are talking about chemical bonding chapter from class 11 then geometry describes the arrangement considering all electron pairs are bond pairs and hence how the molecule would look if all electrons were participants in bonding to other atoms whereas shape describe the actual shape caused by the atoms and effect of lone pairs (their presence )is not taken in account.
