The development of graphene is taking place at a rapid pace. The nanomaterial can produced by many different methods, each of which produces different forms of graphene. These forms have often radically different qualities, which are suited for use in different applications. The exotic properties of graphene make it an attractive proposition to develop for use in many different types of device. Graphene is impermeable to all gases and is capable of sustaining high densities of electric current.

Van Arkel method for refining impure titanium. Mond's process for refining impure nickel.
Ultra pure metals are being prepared by the Van Arkel Method. The compound so formed is then decomposed by heating to get the pure metal. Van Arkels method is used to purify crude titanium metal. It is heated with iodine to about 500K to form volatile compound.

Entropy is a measure of degree of randomness of a system. Thus, if entropy increases the randomness also increases. The process which are generally accompanied by increases in entropy are generally called spontaneous or entropy driving reactions.
A reaction takes place spontaneously if ∆G < 0.
Now, ∆G=∆H-T∆S.
If change in entropy ∆S is positive and large enough to make ∆G < 0 (when ∆H > 0), then the reaction proceeds in forward direction just because of positive entropy change and then the reaction is called entropy-driven reaction.

There are two reasons for this:
1. Aromatic acids are stronger acids than the aliphatic acids. Since the benzene ring has -I effect, it causes stronger hydrogen bonds between molecules. This tend a close arrangement of molecules. So, the molecules are generally solid.
2. Aromatic acids are higher molecular weight compounds. Compounds with high molecular weight are solids.

In chloroacetic acid inductive effect due to the presence of chlorine group increases the polarity of hydroxide bond and thus makes it more acidic as compared to acetic acid.
Chlorine being a strong electron with drawing group. pulls the negative charge toward it self by inductive effect so that the negative charge density on the oxygen atom is reduced hence stabilizing the conjugate base of chloroacetic acid whil the negative charge of the oxygen atom in acetic acid is localized and the conjugate base is less stable.
