1) Chlorobenzene and Benzyl chloride Take both the compounds in a test tube. Add 1 - 2 ml of aqueous KOH to each of the test tubes. Acidify with dilute HNO3 and add AgNO3. Benzyl chloride gives white precipitate while chlorobenzene does not.
2) Chloroform and Carbon tetrachloride Chloroform on warming with alcoholic KOH and aniline will give foul smell of isocyanide; whereas, Carbon tetrachloride will not show any change.

Any carbohydrate which is capable of being oxidized and causes the reduction of other substances without having to be hydrolysed first is known as reducing sugar, but those which are unable to be oxidised and do not reduce other substances are known as non-reducing sugars. Generally, all the free monosaccharides having free aldehyde or hydroxyl ketonic group are capable of being oxidised. After being oxidised they cause the reduction of the other substances and so known as reducing sugars.

Reducing Sugars:

Such sugar bear a free aldehyde (-CHO) or ketonic (-CO) group.

Reducing sugars have the capacity to reduce cupric ions of Benedict’s or Fehling solution to cuprous ions.

Examples: Maltose, Lactose, Melibiose, Cellobiose, Gentiobiose

The bond pair in NH3 is close to N in N–H bond than the bond pair in P–H bond in PH3. This is because the size of the nitrogen is small than phosphorus. As a result, the force of repulsion between the bonded pair of electrons in PH3 is more than in NH3. Therefore, the bond angle in PH3 molecule is lesser than that in NH3molecule.

The inter electronic repulsion between two lone pairs of oxygen atom tends to bring C-O bond closer which leads to decrease in bond angle of alcohols. It is same as in the case of H-O-H angle.
