Iodoform test---- 2-pentanone being a methy ketone when treated with NAOI(I2+NAOH) gives yellow precipitate of iodoform but 3-pentanone does not...... CH3CH2CH2COCH3 + 3NAOI ----------> CH3CH2CH2COONA(sodium butyrate ) + CHI3(iodoform) + 2NAOH CH3CH2COCH2CH3 + NAOI ---------> no reaction Is it helpful???
