Phenols has more resonating structure as compare to alchohal which results in more delocalization of electron in phenol. Hece phenol is more acidic tha alcohol

Tanmay Tiwari 6 years, 3 months ago

Phenol has more resonating structure than alchol.as a result more delocalization of electron take place in phenol.so it is more acidic

Gaurav Seth 6 years, 3 months ago

Phenols are more acidic than  phenols because  delocalization of electrons takes place in phenols by resonance .

Phenol loses its hydrogen to form the phenoxide ion which resonates and  stabalizes itself ,thus this loss of electrons makes phenol more acidic than alcohols.

Given:
Kf = 3.83 K kg mol-1
Mass of solute = 2.56 gt
Mass of solvent = 100 g
Therefore,
Molality of the solution, {tex}m=\frac{2.56}{32} \times \frac{1000}{100}=0.8 m{/tex}
The depression in freezing point of a solution is given as
{tex}\Delta \mathrm{Tf}{/tex} = iKfm
0.383 = i {tex}\times{/tex}3.83 {tex}\times{/tex} 0.8
i = {tex}\frac {1} {8}{/tex}
Hence, 8 sulphur atoms are undergoing association, as shown below:

Vidhi Tyagi 6 years, 4 months ago

The carbonyl carbon in aldehydes generally has more partial positive charge than in ketones due to the electron-donating nature of alkyl groups. Aldehydes only have one e- donor group while ketones have two.

On the other hand, substances such as hydrochloric acid, HCl, are held together by polar ionic bonds and when placed into water the hydrogen will break away to form hydrogen ions, making the liquid acidic. HCl therefore has a very low pH and is a very strong acid.

Div¥@N$Hi P@M@® 6 years, 4 months ago

Hey friend!! I think it is Beacuse it gives H+ easily as the acidic nature of an acid is determined by its tendency to give H+ ion.
