When chloroform is added to acetone there are new forces of attraction due to hydrogen bonding between acetone and chloroform. ΔHmix is negtive because energy is released due to increase in the attractive forces, therefore dissolution is the exothermic process . hence temperature is increases.

Because KCN is ionic bonding and AgCN is covalent bonding in KCN after reaction with haloalkanes C has free electron to bonding with other but in AgCN N has electron to bonding.so haloalkanes reacts with kcn to form cyanide and withAgCN isocyanide

Deeya Singh 6 years, 2 months ago

KCN is predominantly ionic and provides cyanide ions in solution. Although both carbon and nitrogen atoms are in a position to donate electron pairs, the attack takes place mainly through carbon atom and not through nitrogen atom since C—C bond is more stable than C—N bond. However, AgCN is mainly covalent in nature and nitrogen is free to donate electron pair forming isocyanide as the main product.

Nitrating mixture consists of sulphuric acid and nitric acid. In the mechanism of nitration, first step comprises of the formation of nitronium ion. In order to do so, sulphuric acid protonates nitric acid. So sulphuric acid acts as an acid and nitric acid which accepts proton acts as a base.
