in physiosorption the molecules are bonded with weak vanderwaal forces so the increase in temperature leads to the breakage of bonds so physiosorption decrease with increase in temperature whereas in chemisorption there are chemical bonds so the energy gain by increase in temperature is first utilised in forming the bonds further increase in temperature,the kinetic energy increases nd molecules start leaving the surface so chemisorption first decrease nd then increase with increase in temperature

Phenol and benzoic acid can be distinguished by ferric chloride test.

Ferric chloride test:

Phenol reacts with neutral FeCl₃ to form an iron-phenol complex giving violet colouration.

6C₆H₅OH + FeCl₃ →[Fe(OC₆H₅)₆]^3- + 3H⁺ + 3 Cl^-

But benzoic acid reacts with neutral FeCl₃ to give a buff coloured ppt. of ferric benzoate.

3C₆H₅OH + FeCl₃ → (C₆H₅COO)₃Fe + 3 HCl
