In CuSO4.5H2O, Cu is cordinated with 4 water molecules and two more oxygen atoms fron Sulphate ion. Now fifth water molecule is hydrogen bonded and is deeply embedded in crystal. It is not cordinated. Only 4 water molecules are coordinated and fifth is only hydrogen bonded.

Spiegeleisen: It is an alloy of Manganese (20 - 30%) and carbon (5%) and Iron (remaining percentage).
Roles of spiegeleisen
1) It acts as a scavenger (cleaning agent).
2) It acts as a deoxidizer and removes oxidized iron if present.
3) It is added to the molten iron to maintain the required amount of carbon in steel.

Bessemer process, the first method discovered for mass-producing steel. Though named after Sir Henry Bessemer of England, the process evolved from the contributions of many investigators before it could be used on a broad commercial basis. It was apparently conceived independently and almost concurrently by Bessemer and by William Kelly of the United States. As early as 1847, Kelly, a businessman-scientist of Pittsburgh, began experiments aimed at developing a revolutionary means of removing impurities from pig iron by an air blast. Kelly theorized that not only would the air, injected into the molten iron, supply oxygen to react with the impurities, converting them into oxides separable as slag, but that the heat evolved in these reactions would increase the temperature of the mass, keeping it from solidifying during the operation. After several failures, he succeeded in proving his theory and rapidly producing steel ingots.

Structures of Xenon fluorides cannot be explained by Valence Bond approach. According to the valence bond approach, covalent bonds are formed by the overlapping of the half-filled atomic orbital. But xenon has a fully filled electronic configuration. Hence the structure of xenon fluorides cannot be explained by VBT

Riya Rana 5 years, 10 months ago

Bcoz xenon has fully filled orbital and stable electronic configuration hence cannot be understood by VBT

Oh yes, my bad i wrote evrything entirely opposite.. yes you are right though.

Tamanna Sharma 5 years, 10 months ago

No, Riya the pKa value for meta hydroxybenzoic acid (4.08) and for benzoic acid is (4.19) so at this time Iwas right.

Riya Rana 5 years, 10 months ago

No tamanna benzoic acid is more acidic than meta hydroxybenzoic acid because tha pKa value of meta hydroxybenzoic acid is more it is less acidic. (BUT para hydroxybenzoic acid is more acidic than benzoic acid)

Tamanna Sharma 5 years, 10 months ago

Metahydroxy benzoic acid is more acidic than benzoic acid because the -I and +R effect of OH group at meta position,-I effect will decrease the electron density from the ring and it can loose H+ easily from (COOH)

Riya Rana 5 years, 10 months ago

What is walden conversion, I have heard of walden inversion.....???

Aditya Chauhan 5 years, 10 months ago

Oye ab kitna wait karaogi

Aditya Chauhan 5 years, 10 months ago

Since a molecule can form two enantiomers around a chiral center, the Walden inversion converts the configuration of the molecule from one enantiomeric form to the other. For example, in an SN2 reaction, Walden inversion occurs at a tetrahedral carbon atom.
